MIDWEST IMPACT DAY OF SERVICE
Milwaukee Alumnae Chapter hosted its Midwest Impact Day of Service (MIDS) on Saturday, September 30th at the Good Hope Library. The focus of this year's MIDS was literacy. Community engagement and support truly made this a spectacular event. Chapter members were also on hand to support the event. The strategic priorities addressed with this event were Empowerment of Women & Girls and Appreciation of Culture. There were Read Aloud sessions with Soror Dannette Justus and Kelly Melton, the author of "Did You Say Baby." Books from the banned books list were also distributed to the community.
There were a host of community partners that took part in MIDS, Milwaukee Public Library, Milwaukee Public Schools, Milwaukee College Prep, Wisconsin Educational Opportunity Program, and Maures Development Group. Children and adults received library cards. To address mental health concerns, Soror Dominique Pritchett, conducted a workshop, B.O.L.D. Method of Burnout Prediction." Workshop participants gave the session rave reviews! Recruitment for youth programs and voter registration was also included in the day.
