Greetings!
Welcome to the official website of the Milwaukee Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. We are moving “Forward with Fortitude, Engaging Our Sisterhood, Empowering Our Communities, and Elevating Our Impact,” which is our National biennium theme. Milwaukee Alumnae Chapter will continue the work to focus its programming to align with this mantra!
Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. was founded 110 years ago on January 13, 1913, by 22 young women studying at Howard University in Washington, DC. They sought to create an organization based on Christian principles and rooted in sisterhood, scholarship, service, and social action. Through the vision of our 22 illustrious founders our ranks have grown into more than these courageous women could have thought or imagined, with over 350,000 initiated women and over 1,000 chapters located worldwide.
As Delta Women, we are called to serve! The Milwaukee Alumnae Chapter was chartered on January 27, 1945 in Milwaukee, WI. Initially chartered as Beta Tau, Milwaukee Alumnae Chapter formally change its name on February 15, 1975 to its current name. Milwaukee Alumnae Chapter is a part of the “Mighty Midwest” Region.
Our chapter programs align with the National Strategic Plan, which is undergirded in the Sorority’s
Five-Point Programmatic Thrust:
1. Economic Development
2. Educational Development
3. International Awareness and Development
4. Physical and Mental Health
5. Political Awareness and Involvement
Through our program initiatives, we aim to make a positive impact in these areas and uplift our communities. I invite you to explore our site to learn more about who we are and how we impact our community. Thank you for your interest and support!
Yours in Service,
Sharon D. Williams, President
