Greetings and Welcome to the Website for the Milwaukee Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. My name is Tasha Sledge and I will serve as the President of this chapter for 2006-2007. It is an honor and a privilege to share with you information about our glorious sisterhood and how we look to make an
in the Milwaukee, Racine, Kenosha, and surrounding communities.
Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. was founded on January 13, 1913 by twenty-two, dynamic, collegiate women at Howard University. These women wanted to create a sisterhood that promoted academic excellence and assistance to those in need. Today, the organization has grown to more than 200,000 women, with 900 chapters in the United States, England, Japan (Tokyo and Okinawa), Germany, the Virgin Islands, Bermuda, the Bahamas and the Republic of Korea.
Our programs focus on five primary areas (Five Point Thrust):
- Economic Development
- Educational Development
- International Awareness and Involvement
- Physical and Mental Health
- Political Awareness and Involvement
Lastly, Milwaukee will serve as host to the Midwest Regional Conference for Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. in 2007. We look forward to having the community join us where possible in this exciting occasion. For more information about what role you can play in the conference, please leave a message at 414-372-2061 and you will be contacted.
We look forward to another great year of service!
Best Regards,
President
